Principle Electrical Design Engineer

Teledyne Technologies is a leading provider of sophisticated electronic components, instruments and communication products, systems engineering solutions, aerospace engines and components and on-site gas and power generation systems.

We are looking for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer with experience and education focused on RF and Microwave technology.


The position oversees design and development of stand-alone filters in appropriate technologies for application and for filter based sub-assemblies.  This includes preliminary modeling and the building and tuning of prototypes as well as the documentation of products for manufacturing.  Creates test procedures and tuning documentation for manufacturing.  Will oversee transfer of products into manufacturing and will work with technicians and assemblers on products in manufacturing.  Participates in bid and proposal activity relating to filters and filter based sub-assemblies.


Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with an additional 6-10 years of direct experience.  Related experience would be considered for exceptional candidates with substantial practical experience.  A strong, in-depth knowledge of lumped element filters with additional ability in suspended and combined structures is essential.  Must also have a proven record of successfully transferring products from engineering into a manufacturing environment.  Some experience with switched filter assemblies is desirable.  Excellent reasoning skills and the ability to communicate tasks to a varied work force are needed.  Ability to prepare reports for customers and Teledyne Management is required.  Experience with software such as Microwave Office, ADS or HFSS would be essential and experience with Microsoft Project a plus.

Job Description:
This position requires candidate to have a Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business with 10 years minimum experience in aerospace electronic manufacturing. Equivalent years will be considered. Primary job responsibilities will be Program and Product Quality Engineering support. Generation and oversight of quality program plans for hybrid manufacturing programs which include hybrid for space, military, medical and solid state relay production. Good people skills are a must. Working knowledge of Quality Management System requirements of SAE AS9100, ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 13485: 2003. Knowledge of MIL-PRF 38534, general specifications for Hybrid Microelectronic, MIL-STD-883 test methods and procedures, MIL-PRF_28750 general specification, and IPC-A-610 acceptability of printed circuit board assemblies. Computer skills required are Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project) e-mail, and use if internal engineering documents control system(for electronic drawing and procedure review). Experience in customer interface, specification reviews and program contract compliance is mandatory. Summary


 


Applies principles of cost accounting to conduct studies which provide detailed cost information not supplied by general accounting systems.  This person also develops, interprets, and implements complex financial and accounting concepts, or techniques for financial planning and control, by performing the following duties.


 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


 



  • Plans study and collects data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor.

  • Analyzes changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided, to determine effects on costs.

  • Analyzes actual manufacturing costs and prepares periodic report comparing standard costs to actual production costs.

  • Provides management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services.

  • Maintains cost accounting system.

  • Assists in monthly closing of general ledger and annual budget process.

  • Conducts physical inventories and monitors cycle count program.

  • Reconciles finished goods inventories.

  • Conducts special studies to analyze complex financial actions and prepares recommendations for policy, procedure, control, or action.

  • Analyzes financial information and records results as needed to determine present and future financial performance.

  • Identifies trends and recommends improvements accordingly.

  • Prepares and conducts studies, reports, and analyses in areas such as budgets, forecasts, financial plans, governmental requirements, statistical reports, cash flow projections, and business forecasts.

  • Interprets and applies corporate financial policies, government legislation, and accounting theory.

  • Establishes databases of pertinent information for use in analyzing future plans and forecasts.

  • Makes recommendations to management regarding cost saving or profit generating opportunities and profitability improvement strategies.

  • Coordinates with all levels of management to gather, analyze, summarize, and prepare recommendations regarding financial plans, acquisition activity, new business planning, trended future requirements, government requirements, and operating forecasts.
